Many university students ask this question: How can I find an internship?

I want to share some simple advice based on my own experience. This is only based on what I know and what worked for me. There may be other ways too.

When I was younger and looking for a job, I did not always wait for job openings. Sometimes there was no vacancy, but I still tried my luck and sent my application. The same idea can also apply when you are searching for an internship.

1. Check Company Career Websites

Many companies have a career page on their website. This is usually where they post jobs and internship opportunities.

For example, in the hospitality industry, you can check career websites of hotel groups such as:

These career pages sometimes list internship or trainee opportunities.

Even if you don’t see an internship opening, you can still find the contact email and send a message to express your interest.

2. Send Your Application Even If There Is No Opening

This is something I personally did when I was job hunting.

Even if there was no position available, I still sent my CV and introduced myself. Sometimes companies keep your profile for future opportunities.

You can do the same when searching for internships.

Your message can be simple:

• Introduce yourself

• Mention your university and course

• Explain that you are looking for an internship to gain experience

You never know. Sometimes opportunities come when you try.

Another helpful step is creating a profile on LinkedIn.

You can also send them a short and respectful message to introduce yourself and ask if there are internship opportunities.

4. Don’t Be Shy to Reach Out

I know many students feel shy when contacting professionals.

But remember:

• You are a student who wants to learn

• You are not doing anything wrong by asking

Sometimes students think they might disturb someone. But many professionals are actually willing to guide or share advice.

Just be polite and respectful.

You really have nothing to lose by trying.
