little corner thoughts
Hi, I’m happy to e-meet you.
I' m Joy & I’m currently working in HR in Dubai, but my journey didn’t start with a clear plan or dream.
I grew up in a small village in the Philippines. When I was younger, I didn’t really know what I wanted for my future. I didn’t have a mentor or someone to guide me, and when I moved to the city to study, I honestly felt lost.
I finished a Bachelor of Arts in English — not because it was my dream, but because it was what I had at that time. I just kept going, because I felt like that’s what I was supposed to do.
My Career Journey
My career didn’t start in HR.
I worked in different roles:
Office admin
Waitress
Telephone operator
Receptionist
I tried different things, learned along the way, and slowly understood myself better. Through cross-training and taking short courses, I found a way to move into HR.
It wasn’t planned. It was step by step.
Who I Am?
I’m an introverted person.
I’m not someone who likes the spotlight or loud environments.
I prefer to observe, learn quietly, and grow at my own pace.
Most of what I’ve done in my career is not because I was passionate from the beginning, but because I had responsibilities — especially to support my family back home.
And I think many people can relate to that.
Why I Created This Blog?
I created this blog because I know how it feels to:
feel confused about your career
not have guidance
just keep going without knowing if you’re on the right path
I didn’t have a mentor before. I had to figure things out on my own.
So this space is my way of sharing:
what I’ve learned
what I wish I knew earlier
and simple advice that might help someone else
A Little More About This Space
This blog is not just about career.
It’s also a place where I share small parts of my life —
my thoughts, lessons, favorite trips, restaurants, books, and anything that made me pause and reflect.
A Small Note
I’m still learning.
I’m still growing.
And this blog is just a collection of those small steps.
If you are also trying to figure things out, just know that you’re not alone.
